Easthampton, MA – City Councilor At-Large Jason “JT” Tirrell’s campaign for mayor is in full swing, and his recent interview with WAMC, conducted by reporter James Paleologopoulos on July 15, 2025, has spotlighted his bold vision for a better, brighter, and more unified Easthampton. The feature captures Tirrell’s deep commitment to the city and his plans to drive progress for its 16,000 residents.
We extend our sincere gratitude to WAMC and James Paleologopoulos for providing this platform to share JT’s message with the community. In the interview, Tirrell emphasized his lifelong connection to Easthampton, where he has lived for 30 years, raised his family, and served in key community roles, including president of the Easthampton Little League and equipment manager at Williston Northampton School for 13 years.
Since announcing his candidacy in May 2025 at Nashawannuck Pond, surrounded by supporters, Tirrell has focused on practical leadership to move the city forward. “I was on the Park and Rec Commission and able to accomplish a little bit there. I’m on City Council currently and can accomplish certain things there. I feel as though in the position of mayor, I can accomplish more for the city,” Tirrell told Reminder Publishing, a message that resonated in his WAMC interview.
Tirrell is committed to building on Easthampton’s recent progress, including revitalized infrastructure like Cottage and Union Streets, with plans for future enhancements to Main Street and the rotary. “Down the road, in another year or two, we’re going to start the third phase, which is going to be Main Street, the rotary, which I personally can’t wait for—I hate driving around the rotary,” Tirrell shared with WAMC, highlighting his enthusiasm for practical improvements that benefit residents.
Tirrell’s campaign kickoff on June 26, 2025, at the Keystone Building’s Boylston Room drew a strong crowd of supporters eager to back his vision for a united community. His platform, rooted in his experience as a City Councilor since 2023 and decades of community involvement, focuses on inclusive leadership and tangible results.
